Bay to Lake is a 100km team relay race in the San Francisco Bay Area. We started the event as an alternative to the highly commercialized, expensive athletic events that have taken hold of the sport.
I still help organize it with a few co-organizers, but ultimately it is community driven athletic event with the goal of reaching complete autonomy from a centralized organization. It is successful because every individual athlete is responsible for pitching in and helping the event run smoothly.
As of writing this, we have successfully coordinated the event 5 a years in a row and hope to keep it going for many more years.
