The Dawn of Everything (Book)
By David Graeber
An anthropological look into early society and history, how groups of people act with respect to inequality and social structure.
My biggest takeaway from this book is to question what it means for something to be fair and equal within a social group.
We look at history with a western lens, i.e., we assume that our social structure is 'correct' and the way society works, but in reality there are infinitely different ways to arrange social structures. For example, the concept of equality is dependent on what the society values, e.g. if they value education then everyone must have equal access to education, if they value wealth then it means equal wealth, etc.
